Participation rules

Who can participate?

Any individual or organization based in Madagascar practicing an innovative form of irrigation: farmer, young farmer, farmers' group, cooperative, NGO, researcher, agricultural technician ...

What to submit?

A concrete solution (device, practice, innovation) improving irrigation on a small farm (0.1 - 2ha). The solution must already be in practice or in testing phase.

Required documents

1 to 5 required photos showing the solution in real use. (Plus: demonstration video). Detailed description. Optional GPS location.

1 solution per candidate

The solution must already be in use in Madagascar.

Evaluation criteria

The jury vote (5 members) counts for 60% + public vote for 40%. The following criteria will be given particular consideration

Innovation and creativity

Is the proposed solution new? Was there creativity in facing climate change, for example?

Effectiveness and efficiency of the system

Is the solution effective and energy-efficient?

Cost and maintenance

Is the solution economically accessible to all? Is local maintenance possible?

Robustness and durability

How long can the system run without major upkeep? How is maintenance done? Are parts available locally?

No. Only solutions already deployed or in field testing can receive a prize.
Which languages are accepted for submissions? +
The form is available in French and Malagasy.
How does the public vote work? +
Information about the public vote will be shared on this portal and on Facebook in due time.
When will the results be published? +
Results will be published on October 14, 2026 during an official event to which winners will be invited.
Will the portal remain accessible after the contest? +
Yes. After the contest, the portal will remain available as a library of innovative irrigation solutions accessible to everyone.
Is the contest open to foreign organizations? +
Yes, for associations and organizations that work at the community level in Madagascar and benefit local populations.
Can this portal be used for advertising? +
No, the goal is to provide solutions that can be replicated by everyone at low cost, with no commercial purpose.
